Helping On Site
Dog Walking
Exercise and socialization is crucial to shelter animals. It helps to prepare them for adoption and their future families. Our volunteers walk dogs around our property and on our Waggin’ Tails Trail. You can walk 1 dog or all of them during open hours. It is also a great way to get your exercise too!
Socializing
Animals love to be socialized. If you just want to come and spend time with a cat or dog, we would love that.
Grooming
Whether you simply want to brush a cat or dog or you have more advanced grooming skills that you want to put to use, we would be happy to have you.
Trail Maintenance
Waggin’ Tails Trail requires a lot of maintenance and we have several more additions that we would like to make including additional benches, picnic tables, landscaping and more. If you are interested in working with your hands and outdoors, this opportunity would be great for you.
Building Maintenance
We are always trying to improve our facility and ensure that it is as nice as possible. We have several projects on our wish list that we would like to get done around our facility. If you are handy with construction, electrical, plumbing, etc and would like to help, your skills could be put to good use!
Community Service
We always welcome those serving community service. We will assign you different projects based on your allotted hours.
Other Ways To Help
Transportation
If you are over 21 years old and have a valid drivers license, you could be a transporter for us. We have to transport pets for many different reasons including locally to vet appointments or further away to meet adopters or rescues. If you enjoy working with animals and driving, this may be a good opportunity for you.
Fostering
Fostering an animal is a great way to help for a short period of time while they are not adoptable. They may have special needs such as bottle feeding, medical needs, etc. While fostering, we cover the costs of all medical care and work to find permanent homes for the animals as they become eligible for adoption.
Fundraising
Most of our funding comes from the generosity of donors. We welcome multiple types of community fundraising. If you are interested in hosting a fundraiser to support the shelter or a specific cause within the shelter, please reach out to us to discuss your ideas.
