Annual Bark Or Treat Festival
We are once again hosting our annual Bark or Treat Festival at the shelter on October 10th from 3PM to 10PM. This year, with the cancellation of many other events in our community, we are going to expand our festival while keeping safety a top priority! We have several things planned for this year including a pet costume contest, the not-so-scary haunted trail and we will be hosting the Indiana Blood Center for a blood drive. We will announce more stuff as booking is finalized so keep checking back for more info!
We want this festival to not just be about supporting the animals at the shelter but also to build community. If you, your business or organization are interesting in getting involved, please reach out to us!
2:00 PM – 7:00 PM – Versiti Blood Center Blood Drive
This year, Frightmares Haunted House‘s annual blood drive will be part of the Greene County Humane Society’s Bark or Treat Festival. All donors will receive a coupon code eligible for 1 free ticket to Frightmares Haunted House in Linton, Indiana. All blood donations are being tested for Covid-19 antibodies as part of the standard testing process. A sign up link will be available soon!

Keep Checking Back As We Are Constantly Adding Activities
This list of businesses have all contributed to help make our Bark or Treat Festival as successful as possible. We truly thank them for their support and all that they do for our community!
If your business or organization would be interested in contributing, we would love to hear from you. We are not only looking for monetary contributions but things such as gift certificates and merchandise that we can offer for door and contest prizes.
We are also looking for businesses or organizations that may want to set up to promote this products and services as well as food vendors.
If you would like to be involved with the 2020 Bark or Treat Festival, please reach out to the shelter using the form below or 812-847-4780.
Scarecrow Decorating Contest
We are hosting a scarecrow decorating contest and inviting individuals, business and organizations to participate. All submissions will have a sign denoting the person, individual or organization that it belongs to so it is a great way to raise awareness for your business or organization!
We want this to be fun and while all submissions must be family friendly, we would love to see some creativity! The public will get the ability to “vote” for their favorite scarecrow by donating. Each scarecrow will have a donation jar and the scarecrow with the most donations at the end of the event will be deemed the winner! We are putting together a prize basket for the winner. All funds donated will be used to continue improvements on the shelter facilities.
All scarecrows must be dropped off to the shelter no later than noon on the day of the event. We plan to display the scarecrows around our trail following the event for the remainder of October but they can be picked up at any time following the event.
There is no fee to enter, just fill out the form and start designing your scarecrow. We will be in touch before the day of the event to ensure that you have all necessary information and do not hesitate reaching out to us if you have any questions!
We are having a cornhole tournament as part of the 2020 Bark-Or-Treat Festival. We will be pairing teams against each other using a bracket until we have one winning champion team! To participate is only $5 per team and the winning team will receive a prize! To participate, please complete the sign up form and we will be in each closer to the team to let you know your place in the line-up for the event!
